KNI is determined to be safest and best performing Ammonium Nitrate manufacturing facility in the world. To achieve this we are seeking a suitable person to fill the following position :

Senior Process Safety Engineer

The purpose of this role is to plan, execute and deliver Process and Technical Safety for the business which is aligned with the vision of “No Accidents Today”. The Process Safety Engineer will provide specialist expertise in the understanding, assessment and active management of major process hazards. They will be responsible for the Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) process, completion of risk reduction action items and the process risk assessment of plant change modifications. This position reports to SHE Manager.

Requirements:

• Bachelor degree in Chemical Engineering from a reputable university.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience within area of plant process operations from petrochemical or oil & gas industry.
• Experience in leading HAZOPs.
• Experience with Layers of Protection Analysis (LOPA).
• Experience with defining risk reduction to the “As Low As Reasonably Practicable” level (ALARP).
• Knowledge of Inherent Safety in design.
• Previous experience in Risk Based Process Safety (RBPS) and Process Safety Management (PSM) systems.
• Familiar with the Engineering documentations (such as P&ID, PFD, etc) and process risk assessment techniques.
• Detailed knowledge and experience of process design standards and statutory requirements.
• Demonstrated track record of working well with regulatory agencies.
• Experience gained in Occupational Health and Safety programs aimed at personal safety and reducing personal injury rates will not meet the technical requirements of this position.
• You need to be a practicing Chemical Engineer, with substantial experience in process design and operation of chemical plants to meet Major Hazards Facility requirements.
